Aspen/Snowmass Ride for the Cure Volunteer Information
The Aspen/Snowmass Ride for the Cure® and the Aspen Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure are always in need of volunteers. Volunteers are the main reason we are able to create and host such an amazing event. Without you, it would not be possible! For that, we thank you in advance for your enthusiasm, hard work and dedication.
Ride General Ride Volunteer Information
All volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Most volunteer shifts will be approximately 4 hours long. Shortly after you register, your Crew Chief will contact you with the details. Volunteers who have small children may not bring them to the event during their shift. PLEASE LEAVE ALL PETS AT HOME! THIS IS A NON SMOKING EVENT!
Administrative SupportAssist the staff of Aspen Ride for the Cure® with general administrative projects. volunteers@komenaspen.org > Aid StationsBe part of the fun at one of these inspiring Rider Aid Station: ARC, Maroon Bells, Woody Creek Tavern or the Monastery at Old Snowmass. Distribute food, water, encouragement and entertainment. Stations also provide mechanical and medical assistance if needed. ApparelResponsible for identifying, researching and ordering jerseys, socks, T-shirts, hats, bib numbers and other 2009 Ride branded merchandise. AuctionIdentify, solicit and organize high cost items for a VIP auction. Bike MechanicProvide mechanical assistance to riders including general maintenance, changing tires and tubes, adjusting brakes and gears, lubing chains. CheerleadingProvide support and enthusiasm to the riders along the route, giving them a much needed boost of energy to finish the 100 miles. EventsAssist in planning and orchestrating the pre-Ride Dinner and post-Ride Party. FundraisingIdentify and solicit donor and sponsorship dollars. Goodie BagsSolicit goods for bags that will be given to riders and volunteers. Work closely with Rider Registration on assembling goodie bags. In-Kind SolicitationIdentify resources and solicit donations of perishable and complimentary goods for the Ride® (including food and drinks for aid stations and finish line party, apparel, lodging, support vehicles and printing). MarketingDevelop and distribute materials to attract donors, riders and volunteers. Work with Ride staff to build awareness of the Ride. Massage TherapyProvide 10-15 minute massages for the riders at the finish line on the day of the Ride® (Must be certified and carry insurance). |
Medical (EMT) PersonnelProvide basic first aid to all participants, both riders and volunteers. Operations and SafetyWork with seasoned volunteers the day of the Ride® to implement communications and operations safety plan. PhotographyDocument the activities of the Ride®. Prizes:Identify and solicit prizes for the Ride® events. Rider/Teams RecruitmentResearch bike clubs and other bike events that can promote the Ride. Develop a list to be used annually. Work with business entities to develop ride teams. Rider RegistrationAssist with all aspects of registration including on-line registration, communication with riders, assembling rider packets, attending pre-Ride events to promote registration. RouteMark route. Day of Ride® direct riders along the route alerting them of traffic, corners and general direction of route. SecurityProvide security at pre-Ride events and on day of the Ride at finish line party. Set-up / Clean-Up CrewSet up /tear down of aid stations and staging area for the finish line party. Survivor TeamDevelop and implement events aimed at honoring survivors and increasing awareness of survivors. Includes identifying survivors who might wish to participate in the Ride. TrainingDevelop, coordinate and monitor training rides prior to the Ride®. Volunteer CommitteeAssist Volunteer Coordinators with recruiting and assigning 500 volunteers. Help with recruitment events.
